A horrifying incident unfolded today at the Blue Sapphire Mall in Greater Noida, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and leaving several others injured as a ceiling grille plummeted into the mall’s lobby.
The victims, identified as Harendra Bhati and Shakeel, both 35 years old, tragically lost their lives on the spot as they were struck by the falling ceiling grille. The incident triggered panic among mall visitors, prompting the immediate response of senior police officers and personnel who are currently at the scene.
According to Additional DCP Hridesh Kathariya, the iron grille fell from the fifth floor of the mall, crushing the victims as they were heading towards the escalator. The grille, originally used for fencing purposes, descended suddenly, leading to the fatal outcome.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, while an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway, as stated by the DCP.
