In the midst of ongoing discussions about the Indian cricket team, all eyes are on Ishan Kishan. Once part of the South Africa Tour, Kishan took a mid-tour break and was notably absent from the India vs Afghanistan T20I series. Speculations arose, hinting at disciplinary issues, but coach Rahul Dravid has debunked these claims.

Addressing the media before the first India vs Afghanistan T20I, Dravid dismissed any disciplinary actions against Kishan, stating that the player had requested and received a break during the South Africa tour. Dravid emphasized that Kishan, who is yet to make himself available for selection, would need to play domestic cricket before a potential comeback.

With a seven-week hiatus from cricket, Kishan’s chances for selection in the upcoming England Tests are slim. Kona Bharat is already considered the primary wicketkeeper for the series.

In response to inquiries about Kishan’s availability for the Ranji Trophy, the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Secretary, Debasish Chakraborty, confirmed no contact from Kishan.

The blog also delves into Shreyas Iyer’s non-selection for the T20I series against Afghanistan, clarifying that it has no connection to disciplinary issues. Dravid emphasized the challenge of accommodating all talented players in the squad or starting eleven.

As the cricket saga unfolds, Dravid reassures fans that player discipline is not a concern, shedding light on the complexities of team selection amid a pool of talented players.
