Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin on Monday handed over the enhanced administrative and development subsidy to the temples governed by the Hindu religious and charitable endowment (HR&CE) department in Kanyakumari and Pudukottai districts.

Joint commissioner of Suseenthiram – Kanyakumari Devasthanam temples R Gnanasekar received the cheque for Rs 6 crore towards the administrative and development subsidy from the chief minister at the secretariat in Chennai.

The chief minister also handed over the cheque for Rs 3 crore to Pudukottai Samasthanam joint commissioner K Thennarasu and executive officer G Saravanan at the secretariat.

The increased subsidy comes after the announcement on the demands for grants for 2021-2022 was made in the assembly that the subsidy for the temples in Kanyakumari will be increased to Rs 6 crore from Rs 3 crore while the Pudukottai Samasthanam temples will be given Rs 3 crore instead of Rs 1 crore given earlier.
