In a remarkable display of prompt medical assistance, a devotee attending the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ event at the Ram temple in Ayodhya was saved from a heart attack, thanks to the swift actions of the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) rapid response team.

The incident occurred when 65-year-old Ramkrishna Srivastava collapsed inside the temple complex. Acting with urgency, a team of BHISHM Cube, led by Wing Commander Manish Gupta, efficiently evacuated Srivastava within a minute of the incident, providing on-site treatment during the critical golden hour – the initial hour following a medical emergency that significantly influences the success of emergency care.

Upon assessment, Srivastava’s blood pressure was found to have surged to a dangerously high level of 210/170 mm Hg. The rapid response team immediately administered preliminary treatment at the site. Once the patient’s condition stabilized, he was transported to the civil hospital for further observation and specialized care.

Two Cube-BHISHM mobile hospitals, part of the Arogya Maitri Disaster Management project, were strategically deployed in Ayodhya to enhance medical readiness and response capabilities for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. These mobile hospitals are equipped with innovative tools designed to improve disaster response and medical support during emergencies.

The timely and efficient intervention by the Indian Air Force’s rapid response team highlights the importance of having specialized medical units in large gatherings and events. As devotees gathered for the auspicious ceremony, the quick response ensured that medical attention reached Srivastava swiftly, potentially saving his life.

The incident emphasizes the significance of preparedness and emergency response in managing unforeseen medical situations, especially during major events that draw large crowds. The commitment of the Indian Air Force in providing medical support showcases the integration of defense forces in ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during significant gatherings.
